Definitions

Republic- A form of government that allowed for people to elect officials. It was a complex government with constitution and detailed laws.

Patrician- An aristocrat or nobleman

Plebeian- A commoner, member of the lower class

Tribune- Title of elected officials in rome

Consul- An official that goes into forgien land and promotes and protects the land he came from

Senate- The state council, which shared legislative power with the popular assemblies, adminstration with the magistrates, and judical power with the knights

Dictator- A ruler with total power over a country, usually one who obtained control by force

Legion- Unit of 3,000-6,00 roman soliders

Punic Wars- Series of three wars fought between Rome and Carthage

Hannibal- The second war of the Punic Wars

Essay

For my essay Im gonna write about: Theater.
In my first paragrpah im gonna talk about the two genre of theater, comedy and tragedy. I'm also gonna talk about how they discovered the two genres. In my second paragraph im gonna talk about some playrights for Greece and some of the famous and influetianal ones. In my next paragraph im gonna talk about some of the famous plays and who they were written by. In my fourth paragraph im gonna talk about the structure and some the places where plays were held. In my final paragraph im gonna talk about how greek theatrer influences theater and movies now.

Poem

Athena, goddesses of victory, carrying her staff like her old man Zeus carrying lighting.
Poseidon, god of the sea, commanding the sea like his big brother upstairs. Last but not least, Hercules. He was a roman god and hero and the son of Zeus

Plato

1. Plato's forms assert that the physical realm is only a shadow, or an image of the true reality of the realm of forms.
2. The producers, the auxiliaries, and the guardians.
3. He thought women were physically weaker then men. he believed women should be equal with men.
4. A noble lie is a lie of religious nature, knowlingy propagated by elie society to matain social order.

Greek architecture

The parthenon combines elements of the doric and ionic orders.Basically a doric peripteral temple, it features a continuous sculpted frieze borrowed from the ionic order, as well as four ionic columns supporting the roof of the opisthodomos.




The temple of Athena Nike is a temple on the Acroplis of Athens. The temple is the earlist fully ionic temple.  It's a walled sanctuary that is protected by walls on the north, east, west and south.

Theater

1. Tragedy and comedy

2.  I recently watched Jumanji. The movie was a comedy and it related to greek comedy because it had crude hurmor that isn't actually funny but makes you laugh and it makes fun of characters weaknesses as well.

3.  This is a greek theater It has a big stadium like vibe that can fit many people it has a big stage for everyone to see and it has a ciruclar bench for the audience so you can see from every angle.

Cyberschool

Cyberschool and the corona has changed us for the worst. People want to break the rules, people want to hangout with others. I think that people in America break the rules because someone is telling them what to do. No one listens the president or the governer no one wants to listen until something bad happens to them. Cyberschool has probably stressed out most of the school because teachers are giving us so much work. I feel like the work is causing us to give up not encouraging us to do it. I do feel like people are getting lazy because you know when your home you feel relaxed like you can do whatever you want but its also on the students to get work done. Im hoping the teachers will start to change the work as we begin the 4th quarter and get closer to the end of the school year. I do actually miss school and friends and I hope May 1st is the last quarentine day.

Plague

The plague that hit athens came from overseas into Athens and then wiped out 1/3 of athenian population. Covid-19 came from overseas from China. It started from a rodent AKA a bat. It started to spread and has now killed 23,000 people.

Bios

Phillip was really known for being the father of Alexander The Great, but he was also an accomplished king and military commander.  Phillip took a weak, backward country and turned it into a powerhouse.



Alex was the son of Phillip and took over his role as king in 336 BC. Alex conqurered most of the world we know today. Alex was trained by professionals such as Leonidas, Lysimachus and Aristole. Alex also tamed the untameable Bucephalus who rode with him into battle.


Darius was the last king of the Persian Empire. His empire was unstable with jealous and unreliable satraps and infected with rebellious subjects. In 334 BC, Alexander decieded to invade Persia and destroyed the city by burning it done. He later decided to pursure Darius but Darius was killed in 330 BC by his cousin Bessus.

Alexander and Bucephalus

Bucephalus was a big-headed horse. Alex won him off of a wager with his dad King Phillip the second. Bucephalus was known to be unstable and could not be tamed. Alexander promised that he would tame him and would pay for him if he failed to do so. Alexander rode him into battles for nearly two decades. Bucephalus died in 326 BC due to battle wounds.

Philosophers

After the atheians lost the battle to the spartans. People began to question their values. This gave Socrates and other philosophers to swoop in and change everyones mind. He told them that you can think using logic and reason. He also stood his ground and never backed down from a fight which eventually led to his execution.

Cyber week

This cyber week has been very stressful and it is very hard. I really hope the teahcers lighten up on the work because it is too much. Us kids are used to one or two assignments in school now teachers are giving us 3 or 4 things to do. Now its also hard to turn in work because they want us to screenshot now and everything is causing great stress and i really hope teachers will understand and lighten up on the work.

Athens plans

Spartans invaded athenian territory and burned the fields and crops. Pericles then had a plan to use his fleet and shipments which carried over a disease. The disease killed a third of athenians and caused riots and other terrible events. Pericles also died from the disease in 429 BC which caused havoc in the finding a new ruler.

134-139

  Pericles was an extremely influential statesman, orator, and general of ancient Athens. He organized the Athenian Empire and commanded his people in the Peloponnesian War against the rival Greek city of Sparta. His three goals were to strengthen Athenian democracy, to hold and strengthen the empire,  to glorify Athens.

Today we took notes with Mr.Cantar. Hope your feeling better mr.Schick or for whatever reason you were out but looking forward to seeing you tommorrow.

Today i will not be in class because i have a tournament starting at 3 and i decided to stay home. Have a good weekend!

Today we took notes on three important phliosophers. We talked about Socrates, Plato, and Aristole. Socrates was a phliosopher who told the greek people to actually think instead of just knowing what they were told. Plato carried on Socrates's ideas by creating his own academy. Aristole then followed Plato and created his own academy too.

Today we went over Sparta and athens fighting the persians and how agressive the greeks were when it came to fighting. Athens had a strong navy while Sparta had a strong infantry. We also talked about the movie 300 and how it doesn't truly represnt how the war really happened.'

Today in western civ we reviewed our test that i got a 78 on. I stugguled on the map part. Today we also took notes on gods and goddess. Gods and goddess interest me and i had some good questions today in class.

Today we had our part one test. I think i did ok and now we have to move on to part two and i learned my lesson from yesterday.

Today in class we took more notes on Ancient Greece. We learned about Greek meetings and more and we had good disscusion.

We took more notes on the powerpoint. We learned about the trojan war and mycaeanen civilization and we had a great disscusion in class today.

Greece

Today we took notes on Mr.Schicks powerepoint. The test coming up seems like its gonna be hard because we have to know so much.

Allegory

Today we read Allegory of the cave. In my opinon it was about Prisoners in a cave that weren't allowed to escape and had to live in this type of closed in society until someone let them out and they had to deal with the light, but since they were so used to the dark or they were so close minded they ran back to where they were until they were forced to face the light and become open minded people.
It sounds like socrates is offering to change the greeks minds about certain things and to open their brains to something new. Both socrates and Glukod agree and are willing to teach new info.

Today we took the egypt quiz. It wasn't as hard as i thiught it was going to be but i still think the questions being 7 points is dumb.
We also took notes on Greece and im actually looking forward to Greece

Today we talked about Egypt. We talked about phraoh's, after life and social class. I have pretty good notes and im ready to learn more tommorow

I have good notes and i think will do well.

Hammurabi code

Today we learned  about Hammurabi's code. Many laws are harsh and unfair depending on the class.
His laws are weird and seems like they would never happened. It would be interesting to see how those laws would play out now.[

western civ

Hammurabi code covered Family relations, business, trading and marketing
which were all vital to the growth of Mesopatamia

last class

Today we went over our new western civ class and we are watching jeopardy.
I don't like my western class because of the size but i'll get over it

Today we are finished with human geo and moving on to western civ.

Im not very happy with my grade but hopefully my grade will go up to an b with the blogs and we also watched Jeopardy
